Bryson DeChambeau has defeated Jon Rahm on the first playoff hole to win LIV Golf South Africa and claim his second consecutive individual title on the breakaway tour. Both players finished regulation at 26-under par over 72 holes at The Club at Steyn City in Johannesburg, setting up a dramatic sudden-death finish.
The Playoff
On the playoff hole — the par-5 18th — DeChambeau reached the green in two shots and two-putted for birdie. Rahm, the Legion XIII captain, found a greenside bunker with his second shot and could not get up and down to match. It was a clinical finish from DeChambeau, who showed nerves of steel in the biggest moment of the tournament.
Double Trophy Sweep
DeChambeau’s Crushers GC also rallied to beat the home-favorite Southern Guards by one stroke for the team title — their league-record ninth regular-season team trophy. The double sweep continued the Crushers’ dominance as the most consistent team in LIV Golf history.
Historic African Debut
The tournament marked LIV Golf’s first event on African soil, with the Steyn City venue providing a dramatic setting. DeChambeau collected $4 million for the individual win from the $20 million purse, bringing his career LIV Golf earnings to a staggering total. It was his fifth career LIV Golf individual title and confirmed his status as the tour’s most dominant current player.
