L.A. not fine for Duval.

I was scanning the first-round scores at the Northern Trust Open (L.A. Open) at Riviera Country Club when I spotted David Duval at the bottom of the list with a WD alongside his name.
Duval started on the back nine and shot a 41 with four bogeys and a double. After bogeying his first two holes on the front, David apparently had had enough.
The official reason for his withdrawal was a neck injury.
Duval is playing on a Major Medical Extension after caring for his wife and children for most of the 2007 season. He must win over $700,000 in 20 events to keep his playing privileges for the entire season.
I’m not going to say he can’t do it, but it’s looking real tough from where I’m sitting. Duval has won a little more than a half million since 2004, most of that coming in 2006 when he earned $318,276 in 24 events.

Tiger is more Dominant than Roger Federer? Really? He has won 12 out of his last 19 majors a wining percentage of just over 63%. In 2008 he will be trying to win the U.S. Open for the 5th year in a row and Wimbledon for the 6th year in a row. Still don’t know who he is? let me give you a clue, he is only 26. Now compare those stats to Tiger’s in majors!
I think that there are many of us who would like to see David regain some of his form that ranked him as one of the dominant players of the late ’90s. It’s too bad to see him start his ’08 campaign this way.
Duval appears to be one of the really good guys on tour. It’s difficult to watch him struggle; however, this highlights the difficulty of the game. Those on the tour know that for most of them it comes and goes and for Duval right now it all appears to be going. As an aside, what does anonymous’ comment have to do with the post?

I agree that Duvall seems like a good guy. I have followed him several times at the Reno-Tahoe Open. During these outing I’ve heard several people talk disrespectful about his abilities, etc. Not sure why people pay money to jam a golfer on the tour. He was once the No.1 player in the world. He must be tought to drop like that. He interviews are articulate an honest.
