THERE ARE NEW SHERIFFS in the golf world. First, it was Adam Scott knocking Tiger Woods off the men’s pedestal. Now joining Scott as a No. 1 golfer is Stacy Lewis after her win at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Lewis replaces Inbee Park, who sat atop the Rolex Rankings for 59 weeks.

Lewis did it in style. She closed with a 67 on Sunday to wrap up a 16-under total, good for a six-shot victory on the Bay Course at the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey. Christina Kim was the runner-up.

“It’s just really special to me,” Lewis said. “I’ve played some really good golf here, and it’s just mind boggling really to think I have ten wins out here. It’s so hard to win. There’s so many good players, and it’s so hard to win, so you never take them for granted.”

Lewis was also No. 1 in 2013 for a month before Park went on a tear.

“Last time it was taken away from me in an off-week when we weren’t even playing,” she said, “so I’m definitely just going to not take it for granted and really enjoy it this time. Now I know all the extra things that come along with it, but I’m ready for it this time.”

Next up for the ladies is this week’s Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Waterloo, Ontario.
