I FLIPPED ON CBS late this afternoon and Phil Mickelson was leading the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Wait a second. What happened to Dustin “Long Ball” Johnson?
Weather delay. They were showing a replay of Lefty’s 2007 victory at Pebble.
“Rains are expected to continue Monday, but the key element will be the strength of the winds, which were the decisive factor in wiping out Sunday’s play,” reported PGATour.com. “Wind gusts up to 60 mph caused dangerous situations for players and spectators, prompting tournament officials to try again Monday.”
In fact, they might not get it in, which would make it the first rain-shortened Pebble event since 1999 when the late Payne Stewart won.
No “W” for Wie. Michelle Wie was in the driver’s seat at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay until she knocked her tee shot into a water hazard on the 11th hole. Things unraveled from there, and Angela Stanford raced past the Hawaiian to claim her third LPGA title in her last seven starts.
P.S. CBS just wrapped its coverage, and Phil Mickelson is still the 2007 winner.

I watched it also. I think Mickelson won. What happened to the 2008 tournament? Steve Lowery has every bit of the personality and bustline that Phil has?

I was in the middle of a project and told my husband to check out the golf. He told me Phil was winning which seemed totally implausible considering that he had barely made the cut… He “watched” the the entire 2007 event without realizing it wasn’t this year’s tournament. Only I think watching meant sleeping. Or at least napping. :o)
@Patrcia….I did something very similar the other day, watching the football, even commenting on “deja vu” with the commentary only to realise it was a repeat but it had no R in the corner – good old setanta!
The rerun from last year was about as exciting as the current tournament. I’m glad there are only two “National Pro-Am’s. I wouldn’t pay anything to hear Tiger sing and I really don’t care to watch celebrities flail away at golf. Perhaps I’m the only one who feels this way and perhaps I ought to cut the celebrities some slack, but it is boring to watch the same antics year after year. It may be better in person than it is on TV. For the sake of the spectators, I hope so.
I agree with Lancer. I don’t want to see the celebrities either. If it’s for charity, that’s cool, but otherwise, it’s kind of annoying.

I think I saw more of the Mickelson replay than the actual tournament. That’s sad. But I can’t really say I missed the celebrities. It used to be kind of cool, but now it seems so over the top. Dang, I must be getting old!
