OK, NAME-THE-PLAYER experts: How about some old-timers? Do any of the players in this grainy black-and-white photograph look familiar? Can you name one, two, or more?
No hints. You’re on your own. Who are any of these old-time players?
−The Armchair Golfer
Other “Name the Players”:
Name the Player Practicing in the Bunker
Name the Player Along on the Range
Name the Player at the LPGA Championship
Name the Player Signing the Deal in 1971
Is that Jack Newton on the left?
I am going to throw out Ed "Porky" Oliver, Lawson Little and Ted Kroll as three of my guesses. The presence of ties on several players indicates to me that this photo is pre-WW II
bkuehn is right on track. Good call on the neckties. And, yes, one of them is Lawson Little. Which one? Can anyone name any others?
Horton Smith, Lawson Little, Jimmy Thompson?, and Lighthorse Harry Cooper.
Nice work, George and bkuehn. You got three of four. Getting two would have been great. From left to right, the players are Jimmy Thompson, Lawson Little, Bud Donovan and Horton Smith.
This was an interesting exercise. Thanks for forcing me to use my brain for something other than to keep my skull from collapsing!
