(Editor’s note: This is the fourth of a seven-part series on spring practice drills.)
Problem: The player loses his or her concentration when putting. Or, he or she always practices with multiple balls yet fails to improve.
Result: Poor putting scores on the golf course, particularly in tournaments.
Goal: To find a way to enhance your mental focus and simulate real golf situations.
Practice procedure: Practice with just one ball instead of throwing a few balls down on the green and putting without focus, as many poor putters typically do. Use your on-course putting routine and concentrate on every stroke. This will intensify your concentration. Try to create “game conditions,” and make your practice much like the real thing.
Next time: Horizontal-Shaft Drill
