2008 Ryder Cup: Foursomes Underway

2008 Ryder Cup: Foursomes Underway 1THE TALKING IS OVER. The Ryder Cup is underway on a beautiful morning in Louisville. All four foursomes matches are deep into the opening round.

The Europeans got off to a good start. The Americans looked shaky. Big-time butterflies. So much for being loose and having fun. This is the Ryder Cup. It shows.

Hunter Mahan hit a big pull on his approach shot from the middle of the fairway on No. 1. The Leonard-Mahan team bogeyed the first two holes to go two down, but rebounded with two birdies to square the match.

Padraig Harrington hit an uncharacteristic tee shot on the first par-3, going way right into a hazard. After taking two hacks at the ball, the Harrington-Karlsson team conceded the hole to the Mickelson-Kim team.

Chad Campbell was struggling. I mean, really struggling.

Currently, both teams are up in two matches, a dead heat at the moment. It’s a roller coaster. And the ride doesn’t end until Sunday evening.
